SBC Canford Summer School

For students aged 11-15

SBC Canford Summer School takes place at Canford School, ‘Independent Boarding School of the Year’ (2018) and ‘Tatler Public School of the Year’ (2019). The idyllic grounds and impressive facilities give students a traditional British boarding school experience. Students will join an engaging academic programme of their choice. Outside of the classroom, an exciting programme of activities and events are planned every day.

The Summer School is located at the stunning Canford School in the beautiful county of Dorset, situated on the South Coast of England. The school is blessed with outstanding facilities, modern accommodation and impressive grounds. The course, designed specifically for students aged 11-15, is focussed on giving students the opportunity to improve their English language skills through a wide range of introductory courses whilst making new international friends in a stunning location with outstanding facilities. All students receive 15 hours of lessons per week (additional lessons are available), specially designed by our academic team for international students. SBC Canford students have a range of courses to study, including: Art & Design, General English, Introduction to Leadership, Introduction to International Relations and Introduction to STEM. As part of our Time to Shine programme, our students get to draw on the breadth of knowledge they have been studying each week, to create engaging and thought-provoking presentations. The British Council have noted strengths for every area they inspected, including Course Design and Academic Management. Students from beginner through to fluent speakers enjoy learning in our supportive and immersive English environment.

Our trained staff extend English learning beyond the classroom, with students enjoying a fantastic activity and events program. Canford School has excellent facilities, including a swimming pool, tennis courts and 250 acres of landscaped grounds, with swimming, tennis, football, dance, arts, and exploring Bournemouth just some of the highlights. There are also three full-day cultural excursions to beautiful cities and world-famous attractions, including London and Brighton.

All students are accommodated in on-site boarding houses, meaning our immersive programmes begin the moment students wake up and continue right through to the end of the day. At SBC Canford, we have a mixture of single, twin and dormitory rooms. Our friendly and supportive staff team are available 24 hours per day to support students. We pride ourselves on offering the best possible care to students, and achieved British Council area of strength in Care of Students.

Travel and Transfers

Summer Boarding Courses offers an Airport Transfer Service to the SBC Canford Summer School for any flights to and from Heathrow Airport. This will be in operation throughout the scheduled arrival and departure days and available for all flights between 09.00 and 17.00 at a cost of £130 per journey. For any queries about flights scheduled outside these times, please speak with your Admissions Manager before finalising transfers.
